HICAM × STG Design

Interiors for a Workplace Designed Like a Robot

Austin · Interior photography + art direction · 8 finals

STG Design rebuilt HICAM’s 26,000-square-foot Austin office around a deconstructed robot, and Nick shot and art directed the eight finals for their portfolio.

STG’s design took a robot apart and used its layers to shape the space, from the sculpted white arches to the color-lit acoustic walls. They pictured five to eight shots in total, so every view had to count.

Before the shoot we walked the space with STG to choose each view and its angle. On the day we photographed every room with and without people, and each final was blended by hand from roughly 10 to 15 exposures to balance colored light against daylight and white surfaces.

After two rounds of revisions, STG approved all eight finals in under four weeks from the shoot.
